Increase Libido and Couple KissingEveryone has heard about aphrodisiacs but do they exist? Are there ways we can naturally increase our hormones and sex drive? From oysters to garlic lets look at some of these and find out what works and can increase libido, and what doesn’t.

Libido Boosters

Celery has been noted to increase libido in females by releasing androsterone in males perspiration. This is reported to be a odorless hormone but a sweaty guy smells and I bet that decreases her libido in more than not. You might want to try bathing and deodorant over a stalk or two of celery.

Raw oysters have a famous reputation but I have always wondered if this was just a good marketing campaign. Low and behold they are  high  in zinc which does increase sperm production and testosterone. They also contain dopamine which is known to increase libido as  well. How many and how much is the question.

Bananas contain bromelain an enzyme believed to increase libido. These aren’t something you think about when discussing libido but …

Chocolate the staple gift of young males, with an ulterior motive,  to  their girlfriends. It seems chocolate contains threobromine alkaloid and phenylethylamine that produces the feeling of being in love. Although this feeling is hard to quantitative,it has been reported.

Garlic, there is one you wouldn’t have guessed. It contains aliein which increase blood flow to the sexual organs. This may leave one frustrated with all that blood flow and the stench of garlic on one’s breath.

Other Causes of Increased Libido

There are many other reasons to have an increase in libido. Some of these are common and some are rare and quite serious. When an individual presents with a marked increase in libido the physician needs to consider the whole patient to distinguish between normal causes of increased libido and other disease processes.

The most common cause for a big increase in libido is puberty, both in males and females.  Some more ominous causes in no order of severity are adrenal adenomas, adrenal cancer, a pancreatic endocrine tumors, hyperadrenalism, mania and sertoli leydig cell tumors.

The work up for these diseases are initiated once more common causes are ruled out.

The Best Way to Increase Libido

One way to increase your hormones and to improve blood flow is to live a healthier lifestyle. This includes a low-fat diet with adequate amounts of protein and complex carbohydrates. By following this regimen you will decrease your % body fat , decrease your cholesterol and increase your energy. These all lead to improved blood flow and decrease in inflammation. You will also need to add an exercise routine including resistance training and cardio. finally sleep , adequate amounts of uninterrupted deep sleep , 7-8 hours a night.

These will all help but don’t forget to slow down on the alcohol and by all means forget the smokes.
