Another month and the pandemic continues though with signs of the it letting up is some parts of the United States and world with more cases being reported (though not always higher death rates) in other parts.

Here are some tips to better cope with the pandemic as you treat yourself well.

Tips to Treat Yourself Well

  • Be kind to yourself and others.
  • Stick to a routine
  • Watch less news and spend less time on social media.
  • Connect regularly with those close to you.
  • If you are struggling, be share to share how you feel with others.
  • Do not make major decisions without getting adequate advice.
  • Schedule regular breaks throughout the day to recharge your battery.
  • Help someone suffering or struggling more than you.
  • Control what you can control and trust God for the rest.

Cut yourself and others slack during this time. People are already on edge and we tend to make poor decisions on edge. Try to be more forgiving of others.

Get into and stick to a routine. A routine provides structure and predictability which is vital when everything else is uncertain. Following a routine saves you brain power you can use elsewhere especially for solving problems and making decisions.

Most everything on the news and social media is negative. There is no reason to “listen” to it 24/7. Remember the news old. It already happened. There is nothing you are going to change what has already happened.

There are plenty of ways to stay connected to those who matter most to you. Check in and see how they are doing. You may be experiencing similar difficulties you can discuss and learn from each other during this pandemic.

If you are having issues related to the pandemic be sure to get them out in the open. Others may be able to help you.

Going back to decisions – don’t make major decisions when you feel stressed more than usual for you. It is tempting to make a decision for the sake of making a decision but it is less likely to be a the best decision when made under duress.

To short but frequent breaks to recharge your body, mind, heart, and soul. Be sure to eat well and find creative ways to exercise which is a way of refueling your body.

Focus less on yourself and more on others. By helping someone else through this time you may find answers for your own problems. Realizing others may have bigger issues than you puts circumstances in proper perspective. Plus, it is not healthy thinking only about yourself. You were put here to help others.

Control what you can control. That’s all you can do. Trust God will handle the rest.

Treat yourself well and live long and stay young!
